1 John 4:12 “If we love one another, God dwelleth in us,
and His love is perfected in us.”
You could also tag this: HOW TO RECEIVE LOVE!
I’l start by saying a
resounding “HAPPY NEW MONTH!!!!” to every MONIC reader. October is our month of
Peace as promised by the LORD and it shall answer in all ways, In JESUS’ Name #Amen
I love the above scripture so
much because it explains a lot, and i especially like today's article.
Later in vs 16 and 17a The
BIBLE says “GOD is love, and all who live in love live in GOD, and GOD lives in
them. And as we live in GOD, our love grows more perfect…”
Isn’t that amazing? Below are
the lyrics to a kiddies song I learnt over last summer. Shall we examine them together?
“Love is something if you
give it away
Give it away
Give it away
Love is something if you give
it away and it comes right back to you
It’s just like a miracle kobo
Hold on tight and you won’t
get any
Lend it, Spend it, Give it
away and It’ll come right back to you!”
I’ve been thinking a lot lately
and these lyrics truky sum up a good number of my thoughts in an honest and
cute way J
In a broader perspective, I
mean that, the receiving of GOD’s love for us is a good start as believers, but
it’s never enough by GOD’s standards until it fills you up and it begins to
over flow so that it gets to everyone and anyone around us whether they are
deserving of it or not. Remember HE promised us in HIS word a pressed down,
shaken together and running over kind of blessing! When a tank is over flowing,
it gives water to everything around it whether it is in need of water or not.
It is therefore the same with
GOD’s love inside of us. After we begin to receive the fullness of HIS love for
us, we must further come to a stage where we grow in love so much that it
overflows to the members around us. By GOD’s standards, only then is love
perfected. This should become a challenge to us all because until people (and I
mean everyone whether lovable and seemingly unlovable) begins to feel and
experience love (the way GOD treats you) then we are still growing to perfect
that love. Having in mind that this is GOD’s commandment to us (John 15:12), we
must therefore take it very seriously.
On a personal basis, I have
learnt that it may start with you receiving that love and it’s beautiful that
way, but GOD’s love is only perfected when it is evidently flowing and shown
first back to HIM, and then to others around you #Amen!
The BIBLE wasn’t talking
about us receiving or feeling loved by them, but that we be givers of this
love. Personally again, I have found that as much as you may receive love,
satisfaction never comes to any human until they give love themselves! True joy
and fulfilment only comes when you are mind made up to give love whole
heartedly the level of returns notwithstanding.
A lot of relationships in the
world today have crumbled because one or all parties as the case may be has the
mind-set to receive love from that relationship to the extent that he/she has a
mental diagram of the other party(s) duties and so (s)he gets so irritated when
the other(s) don’t meet their expectation! C’mon! You be the giver and watch
how every kind act becomes a treasure and you find greater fulfilment wherever
you go so that we live as unto the LORD and stop expecting men to live for our
pleasure!
Not until very necessary, I
personally used to think that showing kindness, forgiveness and being tender
hearted towards everybody was a sign of weakness like you need their attention
and it was simply a dent on my reputation. Like why should one be nice to
everybody? “I have a healthy enough self-esteem and I certainly do not need
them.” Truth is a lot of us did so too, but it’s over already by this
revelation in JESUS’ name. It’s funny how people expect the love and respect of
others when they give them little or nothing of theirs. You can certainly never
reap from what you did not sow. I even yet realised that such and individual
will loose on both ends because this mind-set will crash one’s reputation and
esteem even greater.
Let
us briefly review a quote by Oswald Chambers Bellow:
“It works in this way- if we
love human beings and do not love GOD, we demand of him (human) every rectitude,
and when we do not get it we become cruel and vindictive; we are demanding of a
human being that which he cannot give. There is only one BEING who can satisfy
the last aching abyss of the human heart, and that is the LORD JESUS CHRIST.”
(Emphasis mine)
Wow!
We must never make this
mistake. We are in GOD’s image we are created first to be a blessing and then
be blessed in return because you are the blessing. #GOD is love. Always remember
that!
Give Love
See you at the top!
