A wife of noble
character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies
--- Prov 31:10
So yes our weekly post was delayed by two (2) days
intentionally so as to celebrate an interestingly special set of people- Women!
Let me begin by saluting all the women in my life and in
the world at large. You all mean so much to me and the world so much that you
deserve a whole day to yourself!
Today’s post is about a woman I met today. Her name?
Please don’t ask me. She is often referred to as “The cleaner on my floor”.
I resumed school yesterday and I finished all official
clearance processes late (at about 8pm). I got to the room allocated to me and
I met a scene (lol). I needed to give it so much cleaning attention since I
would be living in it for the next couple of months. To start with, I went in
search of cleaning tools and found a place the cleaners keep them. I
immediately took the lot I needed and went off to begin the not-so-simple
process. The cleaning ended at about 10:30pm and having journeyed all day and going
through clearance processes and a long cleaning process, I could think of
nothing else than to climb into bed, turn off the lights and have a long
well-deserved sleep.
I looked at the cleaning equipment and noticed the mop. It
was dripping wet. I did not want to return the mop wet so I kept it drying
along with the other very useful tools on the balcony in front of my room.
The next day I awoke feeling a lot better and obviously pleased with my accomplishment, I smiled. However, during the day the interesting happened. A colleague came shouting for me and as I came out I met a dark complexioned elderly woman who had earlier given me a loving scold to return the cleaning equipment whenever I was done with them and that she had kept my detergent in a safe place. She brought it to me, I received it and thanked her.
A few moments later she was done with her cleaning routine
and I met this woman sitting on a mattress on the floor studying her BIBLE and
praying. I don’t know her much and don’t
claim to have any specific detail asides what I have already but this woman
there and then taught me love (summarized in three lifelong lessons)
1.
She showed me an example on how to correct in
love. Only GOD knows how long she must have searched for the cleaning equipment
before she found them laying by my room door. In spite of that, she scolded me
softly yet sternly and with a smile her sentence implied that I could still
make use of them whenever I wanted to but that I must always return them so she
and her colleagues could use them too.
2.
She showed me to love people who hurt me; I
made her go through all she did, yet she worried enough to keep my newly opened
sachet of detergent safely until I returned.
3.
She showed me to love the LORD: Nothing we do
is too big or too small to take you far away from our first and foremost love
the creator and love of all international women.
I salute every woman whose name has been swallowed up by
the title “cleaner”. You mean the world to us all and we celebrate you all
today at MONIC. Happy Women’s Day.
Now I say Happy International Women’s Day to you, you and
you from me who loves you so passionately!
MONIC
