The Glory of The LORD

Exodus 33:15; “Then Moses said to him, "If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.

What’s to say about the magnificent weird word “glory”? Glory and especially the glory of GOD is not some mystical substance tied up in a bottle that when a drop of it is sprayed, it can cause a whole land to shine so bright. Glory is usually referred or thought by some and most of us to be a great light, a beautiful appearance, a state of magnificence. Glory can also mean something not physically explainable but there-undeniable and causes so much wonder, and that’s more like the definition we are considering today.

I can’t help but wonder what a man as wonderful as Moses had in mind when he made that statement in our principal verse today that if GOD doesn't go with him, he will go nowhere. (I use glory interchanged for presence here ‘cause the glory of a man in the man himself, his very personality and presence). Looking at the previous verses, GOD did promise to go with them,
14 And He said, "My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest."
But what’s the difference between the first promise and the one in our key verse? Let’s take a look, shall we?

It’s very needful to state here, that the glory isn't your glory, it’s GOD’s glory, GOD promised that HIS presence will go with Moses and the evidence of that glory will be peace on his part. Which undeniably, is visible for all to see. However, Moses wasn't seeking GOD’s glory for himself but for GOD’s sake. He was too obsessed with GOD that he didn’t and wasn’t desirous of HIM- GOD to come with them for their own(the Isrealites) sake; in his mind HE says who cares about that? Moses desired GOD to come to and with them so that others may know. As if to say- Let us not be seen, it’s too dangerous that way; we are not made to portray ourselves, but to portray YOU. Let YOU be seen in us and that is what Moses meant. Let the excellence of GOD cause men to know that we are Israel, the beloved of the MOST HIGH.
Moses sought that invincible nature of GOD that is so transparent over us, that others look at us yet undeniably see and glorify CHRIST.

A lot of people aside from the fact that they really haven’t come to the fullness of what this glory truly is, we know from our stand point that it is something good, praise-worthy and appreciable. So you hear people praying and say things like “as we go, we want your glory to go with us” It is absolutely an awesome prayer, it’s a call that as we do whatever it is that we are here to do, let no one see as, as they look at us, let them see and glorify YOU (no us!). But in today’s life, we here people pray for GOD’s glory to come and follow them so that they will be seen by the people to be excellent and to be praised by all. The “show us your glory” prayer becomes, “LORD, let it go well please”. Let it be so good, so that we don’t look embarrassed. “Let people congratulate us afterwards, let people tell us we did well”.

People, my heart cry today is simply this- let a cry for GOD’s glory be a cry for HIS honour alone. A cry that HE may be seen, let us never desire nor input ourselves in it. Let it be that we go out to our activities of the day with the mindset- “I will do all that i can today to make sure that CHRIST is exalted” knowing fully well that as children of GOD , we don’t just bear HIS name but the earth awaits our deeds
Rom 8:19 says “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

This simply put means, people are watching us. Please let all we portray be a reason to glorify the risen JESUS and not us. The line between this is so thin, easy to miss it, but regardless it is possible and maximally a good course. Indeed it is the best!

Remember----2 Tim 2:21

“If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
Remember, we are vessels unto HIS honour not ours!

Love u heartily,
