LOVE ACTUALLY; (The Character of the Believer 2)

John 3:16; “For this is how GOD loved the world: HE gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish, but have eternal life.

Okay hi! This really isn’t what I intended us to look at today, but this is GOD’s will for us today.
Towards the concluding part of the last article, I made a statement implying that love is really not difficult when things are rosy and so pleasant (i.e. the right atmosphere to give and receive love). For example, loving someone who is ever there for you, always encouraging you, someone who believes in your abilities and brings out the best in you. Could be a parent, a sibling, a boss, a mentor, a school mate or anyone else. I am not trying to play with your mind and say you do not truly love this people, I am simply saying that, in cases like these, it’s so easy to respond so “love-fully”. So how about loving someone who can’t stand you and is not afraid to show or say it, someone who practically gathers the world around him just to run you down with words? How about loving someone with imperfections and probably sometimes may not meet up to some of your standard, could be a child, protégé, or even a friend. How about loving this strange aunty you live with that doesn’t believe anything good can be heard of you and announces same to her audience par time, or an over bearing, over demanding, never satisfied parent or guardian? Growing adults especially have a problem with such people. Isn’t this too demanding a thing for love to ask of me?

The question of “Isn’t love asking for too much?” is equal to asking whether GOD is asking for too much! This is because we know that GOD is love. Now how does that version sound?

I love the revelation of GOD’s word to us in John 3:16 where we see that GOD’s love that sent JESUS to die for us wasn’t to a saved church but to a sinning world. If GOD could look down on us and all of our naughty, wicked and treacherous behaviours and still came and died for all our sins, then I don’t think a call to love with patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control in all of our words, thoughts, actions to everyone is asking for too much.

So take the step today and practically act in this way to everyone around you knowing that there’s a great blessing in it because it pleases the LORD. It’s our call to duty as believers, for only then can we truly prove our difference from the world. There is nothing the world hasn’t seen, the only thing that cannot get stale but always yield in huge returns is love; this character of the SPIRIT from which all of our actions are drawn.

Make a decision to Show JESUS with us today!

MONIC!
