LIVING A LIFE OF OBEDIENCE

John 2:1-10 (NLT)
The next day[a] there was a wedding celebration in the village of Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, 2 and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the celebration. 3 The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus’ mother told him, “They have no more wine.”
4 “Dear woman, that’s not our problem,” Jesus replied. “My time has not yet come.”
5 But his mother told the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
6 Standing nearby were six stone water jars, used for Jewish ceremonial washing. Each could hold twenty to thirty gallons.[b] 7 Jesus told the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” When the jars had been filled, 8 he said, “Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.” So the servants followed his instructions.
9 When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over. 10 “A host always serves the best wine first,” he said. “Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!”

So many things that we are asked to do will hardly ever make sense. Especially when these things are too menial. JESUS’s mother believed in HIM enough that HE could do just anything to bring wine to that wedding. JESUS did believe in HIS FATHER to handle it too and look at the burst! What we read and celebrate today as JESUS’s first miracle we could call a mere act of obedience which truly was obedience to a call by GOD through HIS mother.

Beloved, a lot of times GOD asks us to do a lot of things, say a prayer for someone, go share JESUS with another fellow, lend a helping hand, or even start a ministry, a blog, a website, a church but we just don’t believe in ourselves enough. Well, while that is ok in some way, let us not forget that we have another person here with us and we are not alone so when we make choices as to what we can and cannot do, we must consider the other person too and not just us. Even if we may feel incapacitated, that doesn’t mean we can say “no” just yet. This next person I am referring to is KING JESUS, the man with all abilities and disabilities. If HE has asked you to do a thing, then it is HIS plan and he does fold HIS arms and watch HIS plans unfold, HE promises to do it and bring it to pass. 1 Thess 5:24 has this to say: “God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful.” (NLT).

John 6:29:  29 Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.” This seems to me like the folding arms part belongs to us!
Getting excited about this, I realised that in finance, there’s a term known as a joint account where two (2) individuals are jointly responsible for cash movement within the account. That said, no member of the account has the right to withdraw any amount whatsoever without the consent of the other partner.

Our lives and our life time is as a joint account between you and CHRIST where HIS job is to perform and mine is to believe. Where one is lacking, the job cannot be done well.  So when next we are asked to do something by GOD, maybe a nudge and you feel so unable within you, that’s just you dear friend, you must first and foremost consent with you partner in accounts, HE must give HIS view. HE is all powerful and better still ever powerful so beloved, go for it!

The LORD did know we would fill this way that’s why HE said we can do all things but by HIS internal force which quickens us! (Phil 4:13) How lovely is that? We don’t just do it, we do it with love, joy, peace and HIS speed #Amen!
I am really excited about today’s article. I took this kind of obedience to start this blog, and it takes the same for every single article published here including today’s post. To say not I, but HE who is in and with me.

Most loved beyond words,

MONIC
